About Ultra Mecha Battling Circuit
Sometime far in the future, after the Second Dark Age, humanity across the solar system was ready for peace. It shredded the ropes that had bound it to strict social hierarchies, the farce of capital, and lies of inequalities the best it could to try more sensible egalitarian societies built around cooperation and mutual understanding. This came to be named the Stellar Era; Humanity's promise for ten thousand years of peace.
However, people are still people, and people enjoy three things most of all: competition, drama, and giving into astonishment. What built the Stellar Era was not just a love for each other but a love for the theater of mechanized sports! It is now SE 003.49 and the 334rd Season of the hardest, heaviest, and hottest mech-on-mech tournament is about to start.
These are the stories from the Steel Arena known as The ULTRA MECHA BATTLING CIRCUIT!!
UMBC is an episodic sci-fi series by D W Ó Boyle. The series focuses on the title sport where over-the-top personalities, known as Battlers, pilot giant robots in one-on-one matches for glory and the entertainment of the 90 billion inhabitants of the solar system. Its touchstones are mecha and shonen anime such as G Gundam, professional wrestling, the Cultural Event known as "Blaseball", Jelle's Marble Runs, and spectating fighting game tournaments.
Each episode focuses on one pilot, their mech, their background, and what it means for them to fight. The mechs are designed and built with Bandai's 30 Minute Mission plamo kits series though the 30MM lore has been largely discarded save for some of the names. Statistics such as “Offense” and “Starpower” have been assigned to the Battlers based around their premise and vibes. After each pilot is introduced, a series of matches is generated using a complicated system of dice rolls to determine the winner. Not even the author knows exactly how it will end!
Audience participation is highly encouraged! Please feel free to check out the "Ask a Question" form if you are interested in being a little piece of this project.
No GenAI was used in the making of UMBC!
